Christopher Gu and Luis Ocampo took a small 30 person hackathon and turned it into a 300 person event with over 30 sponsors in just one year. Having attended over 20 MLH Peer Groups to get advice on organizing in the span of 3 months, this duo has become extremely knowledgeable on sponsorship and marketing, working to make their event as inclusive as possible and providing attendees the same top tier opportunities offered at private universities.
These hackers are people who have stood out from the crowd and done something exceptional within the hacker community. Whether they were creating an event to bring CS education to their area, working to make the tech world more inclusive, or programming a project with a positive impact on society, they have all inspired us.
